Eligibility Criteria for Work Permits

Basically there are two main criteria that must be satisfied by the employer of foreign personnel before applying for the working permission. Before all else, Turkish foreign labor quota system prescribes that, for every individual work permit requests, company should employ at least 5 full-time Turkish employees within its workplace.

Additionally the employer must satisfy one of the following financial conditions;

  • · Its paid-in capital of the company should be at least 100,000 Turkish liras, or
  • · Its gross sales amount must be at least TRY 800,000 or
  • · Its export amount in the last year must be at least USD 250,000.

Only after satisfying these two criteria, an employer may consider to hire foreign personnel. Exceptionally, for the foreigners to be employed in associations or foundations, the financial criteria and for the foreigners to be employed in representative agencies of foreign countries’ airlines in Turkey as well as those to be employed in education sector and home services sector, both financial criteria and foreign labor quota will be not applicable. Furthermore for those foreigners to be employed in the companies operating in the entertainment sector as well as those to be employed in the tourism-animation organization firms for occupations requiring expertise, in the existence of 10 Turkish citizen employees, the separate quota system will not be applicable.

MINIMUM WAGE CRITERIA

According to competence and the position level, Turkish legislation sets a minimum amount of salary to be paid to the foreign personnel. Accordingly,

  • 6.5 times the minimum wage amount for senior executives and pilots as well as engineers and architects requesting preliminary permit
  • 4 times the minimum wage amount for unit or branch manager as well as engineers and architects
  • 3 times the minimum wage amount for foreigners to be employed for the jobs requiring expertise and proficiency as well as teachers
  • 2 times the minimum wage amount for foreigners to be employed tourism-animation organization firms as an acrobat or in similar position as well as masseur, masseuse and SPA therapist
  • 1.5 times the minimum wage amount for foreigners to be employed in other occupations.
  • Minimum wage amount for foreigners to be employed in home service sector

I highly recommend them! I got my residence permit done in less than a month.Marta is nice and patient and guides you... through all the processes. She even got me a driver to get me from the immigration office to the tax office back and forth. It was all done in 3h (you have to wait in line tho, there is no other way). If you don't want to waste time trying to deal with your residence permit, it definitely worth using their service!read more

How much turkey minimum wage?

Hi there,
I will soon be coming to Ankara to join a researcher position in ODTU, the gross salary for which will be 5050 Euros per month. Can you plz calculate and let me know the net salary I would get after all the taxation? Also if I am accompanied by spouse and two minors, will I be eligible for family allowance from the government for being a tax payer?
Plz respond as I am planning to reach there as soon as the flights situation get better.

Hello,
Net salary for mentioned amount would be approximately 3850 Euro. There is no allowance for foreigners in this case, however your spouse and children will be eligible for free healthcare in Turkey on basis of your Social Security prime.

Hello,
Thank you for your comment.

In order to obtain work permit, first you need to find a job in Turkey and your future employer must apply for your work permit. Foreigners can not apply for work permit in their own name or without having a job in Turkey. Application for foreigner who has residence permit valid in total for at least 6 months can be done within Turkey. For foreigners who are not residence permit holders, application must be done via Turkish Consulate in their home country.

Hello,
Thank you for your comment.

Usually work permit application is evaluated within 30 working days. After application is lodged in the system, 7 digit application number should be generated to track the application through Ministry of Labor system.

Hello,
Thank you for your comment.

Unfortunately, undergraduate students are not allowed to work in Turkey. Only graduate students can obtain work permit under condition that they were not receiving state scholarship during Bachelor’s degree in Turkey.

Dear Sir/Madam,

There is no such a Certificate. No Certificate are required from the Foreign Citizens. Only an employment contract would be sufficient.

Please be sure that your employer is genuine, and that this job offer is real. Unfortunately many Foreigner get scammed with false job offers.

Best Regards,
